World Trade Centre, Melbourne

Strategic Consulting & Leasing

Gardner+Lang worked with the architect for the Port of Melbourne Authority to plan and design the World Trade Centre, for the 4.5 hectare site beside the Yarra River.

Our initial brief involved several overseas trips, to research and compare various selected Trade Centres around the world.

Our comprehensive study was then adopted by the Victorian Government, who provided full guarantees to raise the $90 million needed for construction.

The leasing of the Trade Centre involved an Australia-wide marketing campaign. And at the time … for you to occupy space within a World Trade Centre, you had to have at least 50% of your business involved with overseas trade.

Even though this left us with a very small group of tenants to draw from, the building opened with over 85% of the 60,000 sqm already pre-leased … where the entire office and retail complex contained more than 150 tenants overall.
